Campbell's finally got its own pub.

The Pedlar opened its doors on Constitution Avenue on Friday, May 6.

Owners Simon Hammond, Anthony Martin and Ben Peppers have put together a breezy little local in the inner north, bench tables along the floor to ceiling windows, a little nook with a wall of greenery for dining, and an outdoor terrace lined with plants for breakfast on sunny mornings or group sessions during after work drinks.

When we visited in March, Hammond told us he wanted to create a comfortable suburban watering hole that was dog and child friendly on weekends and casual and relaxed for post-work drinks, the kind of place that would have the footy showing for a drink or a two.

Hammond has plenty of experience in hospitality, particularly in Canberra's northside - he was a partner in Shorty's and helped open SubUrban in Dickson and the classic Edgar's in Ainslie.

Beers include a mix of craft brews such as Stone & Wood and big brands (Melbourne Bitter tinnies for the hipster in you). Wines are wide ranging and there's a short list of cocktails, including a Vietnamese espresso martini and a peach and yuzu mojito.

The pub menu is heavy on the classics - a cheese burger, schnitzel, Asian inspired braised short rib and beer battered fish in the mains. There are fried chicken wings, pan fried haloumi and betel leaf prawns in the smaller bites.

There are also a fair number of vegetarian and gluten free dishes, in keeping with Hammond's aim of catering to people who want healthier options or have allergies.

Breakfast looks interesting, with a menu that features shakshuka, smoothie bowls, fried duck eggs with goat's curd, and pan fried sardines with manchego on rye toast.

There are also fresh juices, coffee, bloody marys and smoothies on offer.
