Melbourne's Asian diner sisters, Saigon Sally, Hannoi Hannah and Tokyo Tina, have a new family pet. Thundercat, the latest member of the Windsor family, is set to open on Friday.

Taking over Tokyo Tina's bar area on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, Thundercat boasts a hip-hop soundtrack, martinis and the best of Tokyo Tina's kitchen. The bar menu includes karaage fried chicken ribs, dumplings, a Japanese inspired charcuterie platter and DIY bao to keep night-owls satisfied.

"We are in a thriving late night scene in Windsor," says co-owner Simon Blacher. "Thundercat is the group's late night offering with a shift away from dining and a focus on drinks, tunes and quality booze food."

Drinks include Japanese whisky, cocktails and beers..

Thundercat will have its own kitty door via Chapel Street. The side entrance and peeling walls are reminiscent of a Japanese dive bar, but the open bar, dark timber batons and soft lights are all Melbourne.

Open Thu-Sat 10pm until late.
