Good news for dim sum devotees: Tim Ho Wan, billed as the world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant, opens its second Australian store at Westfield Burwood on December 8.
Diners will be able to select from Tim Ho Wan's updated core menu that features the famous baked bun with barbecue pork (three for $7.80), pan-fried radish cake (three for $6), steamed egg cake ($5.80) and vermicelli roll with liver (three for $7.50)
New additions to the menu include fried noodles topped with barbecue pork ($9.80) and broccoli with abalone scallop sauce ($6.80). The restaurant will also feature monthly special menu items such as crystal shrimp rolls with century egg (two for $8.80).
While the Chatswood outlet is now licensed, the Burwood shop will not be, so it's refillable Chinese tea ($2.50) or a homemade barley drink ($3) instead of Asahi.
The main dining room is walk-in only with a first-come, first-served basis, although a private dining room can be booked for up to 12 people at a minimum spend of $300.
Australia's first Tim Ho Wan restaurant opened in Chatswood earlier this year to much success and long queues. The Hong Kong franchise now boasts more than 15 outlets internationally and has plans for three more in Australia alone.
The brand's Sydney Pitt Street location is planned as a takeaway outlet and expected to open in late December. A Sydney flagship store on George Street will open early next year, and a Tim Ho Wan in Melbourne's Chinatown has a tentative launch date during the Chinese New Year celebrations in February.
