By moving Billy Kwong to Macleay Street at the end of 2014, Kylie Kwong is the latest Surry Hills restaurateur to join the Potts Point throng.

Kwong follows postcode 2010 alumni the Bentley team and Longrain’s Sam Christie, who have already planted an expansive flag on Macleay.

“After 14 amazing and unforgettable years in Surry Hills we have decided to gather our woks... Colleagues David King, Andrew Cibej [who are co-owners of Surry Hills’ Vini restaurant] and I will begin renovation of shop 1/28 Macleay Street very shortly,” Kwong announced on social media.

A pre-Christmas opening is planned at the address, the former site of Arun Thai.

Chinta Ria’s Simon Goh had planned to open a restaurant at the space but explains “the landlord told me a couple of days ago they were having some difficulties with the bar licence so they were now looking for a tenant to take a larger space.”
