The long-anticipated second restaurant from the owner of Haberfield's La Disfida has surfaced, with Peter Zuzza opening Tappo Osteria last week at the corner of Pyrmont and Bunn streets in Pyrmont.

La Disfida fans might be a little shocked to hear Zuzza isn't steering an exclusive pizza route at the new venue. ''It has a [broader] Italian menu but has pizza as well,'' he says.

Zuzza says he has had to produce a slightly different pizza base. ''It is the same recipe as Disfida but slightly thicker because the oven here is a combination of timber and gas due to the restrictions of the building.''

The menu gives a clue to another secret of the Tappo Osteria kitchen: the owners have named one of its pizzas with buffalo mozzarella, truffle paste, anchovy and mortadella the Russolini, after the eatery's talented consultant chef, Danny Russo.
