His bagels at Lox Stock & Barrel in Bondi snared rave reviews, now pastry chef Ofir Kadar is taking his act to the city.

Kadar has snapped up 1 Abercrombie Lane, the site near the Establishment off George Street that kick-started Sydney's modern sandwich revolution but went baguette-shaped in recent months and was put up for lease.

Kadar says he and chef Wan Yang [ex Baroque] will put a modern eastern Mediterranean bent to the menu of salads, sandwiches and pastries.

"We'll be baking the bagels and bread on site," he says.

The yet-to-be-named venue will open next month after a design makeover.
