Matthew Bates resigns from Cafe Sydney

The latest word on Sydney's eat streets is that Circular Quay's Cafe Sydney has been trawling the CVs of some big-name chefs to replace long-serving executive chef Matthew Bates.

A Cafe Sydney spokeswoman confirmed that Bates had resigned.

He will depart the venue early next month. Stay tuned on his replacement.

Bates is tipped to be opening his own venue.
