Melbourne 2015 New Year's Eve: where to get a last minute booking

Keen to do something special to ring in the New Year, but left booking a restaurant until the last minute? Here are some of the places that still have reservations available.

The General Assembly
If you're into fireworks, The General Assembly at the South Wharf Promenade precinct is a good spot see in the New Year. It will offer an all-inclusive New Year's Eve package ($135 per person) which includes music and private fireworks, six hours of house drinks, and canapes by head chef Darren Mercaldi featuring Coffin Bay oysters with bellini foam and pickled cucumber, and striploin with bone marrow and bordelaise sauce.

Luxembourg
The parkside Luxembourg is hosting an 8pm dinner for those looking to settle in until the clock hits midnight ($120 for 6 courses). There's also a four-course option at 6pm ($90) for anyone who wants drop by for an earlybird dinner. Expect King George whiting with heirloom zucchini and wild fennel, dry aged striploin steak with a brandy sauce and Pont Neuf potatoes, and a dessert of summer fruits with yoghurt sorbet and rhubarb granita. You can also choose to go with wine matches, or select from Luxembourg's house wine list.

Terminus Hotel
The Terminus Hotel will be bringing back 'old school cool' at its party this year. Tickets are $120 per person and include a four hour retro-inspired food and beverage package. You'll be feeling nostalgic with a modern interpretation of vintage bites, such as prawn cocktails, devilled eggs served with shaved salt and cured egg yolk, and vol-au-vents filled with avocado mousse, semi-dried tomatoes, chives and saganaki crisps. The Terminus will be playing R&B hits all night and will be taking old-school song requests.

Bridge Hotel
Bridge Hotel will turn into a creepy haunted house this New Year's Eve. Ghouls and ghosts will lurk in the laneway to scare you into 2016. At $120, your ticket includes a food and beverage package of canapes and cocktails, including pulled pork sliders with chipotle slaw, and grilled prawn and spiced gazpacho shooters, a cocktail on arrival and other drink options.

No35, Sofitel Melbourne
Enjoy modern dining and amazing views for a night above the town this New Year's at the Sofitel Melbourne's No35. There are still a few spots left for the early sitting, where you can enjoy a four-course dinner including a lasagne of scallop, crab and caviar with citrus butter glaze, and a chocolate sandwich with orange marmalade, Grand Marnier ice cream and freeze dried raspberries for dessert, as well as a glass of champagne ($115).

Melba, The Langham
Celebrate the beginning of 2016 atop The Langham for some of the best views of the fireworks. Melba will be offering an early dinner with plenty of fresh seafood including marinated scallops, king prawns, oysters, blue swimmer crab, green lip mussels, Moreton Bay bugs, as well as sushi and scallop fettuccine. There will also be cider and honey roasted leg of lamb, and Melba's famous chocolate fountain for dessert ($199 for adults, $125 for children). A late-night dinner option will see guests feasting on a a selection of dishes and premium drinks including free-flowing sparkling wine, four still wines to choose from, beer and soft drinks as well as a celebratory flute of Perrier Jouet served at midnight to accompany the fireworks ($345).
