Pubs, restaurants and cafes around Melbourne are donating tips and hosting special events in support of relief and rebuilding efforts in Nepal following last month's devastating earthquake.

"With so many wonderful, hardworking Nepalese in our industry, we felt compelled and committed to raising funds for victims," commented David Mackintosh and Matteo Pignatelli, who are coordinating the Tables4aCause online auction, with all proceeds going to Red Cross.

More than 50 top restaurants have donated tables for Wednesday May 27, including Rockpool, Spice Temple, MoVida, Lee Ho Fook, Rosa's Canteen and Coda. The live auction opens 9am Wednesday May 13, and closes 9pm Wednesday May 20; tables4acause.com.

Elsewhere around town: Babu Ji (babuji.com.au), in St Kilda, and Horn Please (hornplease.com.au), in North Fitzroy, are opening tomorrow night for a five-course $50 set menu, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.

In Hampton, Jai Nepal (jainepalrestaurant.com.au) has a three-course $30 set menu on May 20, with all proceeds going to the Non-Resident Nepali Association. The Deli Counter (thedelicounter.com.au), in Melbourne's legal district, is hosting a special breakfast on May 28 at 7.30am; diners are asked to pay as much they would like.
