Mesa Verde takes the Curtin call

The last vacancy in the city's Curtin House, on Swanston Street, has been filled with the opening of Mesa Verde on the sixth floor. Established by Curtin House owner Tim Peach, who also has the Rooftop Bar, Mesa Verde translates to Green Table. It's ''not a restaurant so much as a bar serving great food,'' says Grant Gould, general manager of Mesa Verde and the Rooftop Bar. Curtin House already includes Thai restaurant Cookie and the club-bar-diner Toff in Town, both owned by Camillo Ippoliti. Mesa Verde will offer Mexican-inspired food with a list of 240 tequilas, and cocktails. The fitout is inspired by the 1971 Sergio Leone western Duck, You Sucker! (aka A Fistful of Dynamite), and the menu is by executive chef Kathy Reed, who has been a private caterer for the past six years. Mesa Verde is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm.
