For the past two years Ministry of Coffee has waved the flag for Sydney cafe culture in Turkey, the combination of Sydney barista export Sam Cevikoz's skilled roasting and snappy bookshelf-laden interiors winning fans in Istanbul. It's even turned locals on to the charms of Vegemite on toast.

Now MOC is importing the very thing it exported, snapping up the former toilet block where Rose Bay Diner traded for Ministry of Coffee Rose Bay.

"In Istanbul they can't get enough Vegemite," says MOC's Jimmy Arslan.

"Whenever someone goes over we pile them up with Vegemite. Over there we serve it with grilled haloumi on top, an idea we're importing for our menu at Rose Bay."

Last month MOC opened a new outlet at Suada Club, an island resort just outside Istanbul. MOC Rose Bay has already introduced its coffee and has started tweaking its design. "We are putting in lounges and a small library," Arslan says.
