The latest buzz bakery in town is Patissez which has captured a strong following on social media with its decadent cakes and pastries and some very extravagant shakes. This photo basically says it all. 21 Bougainville Street, Manuka.

Meat Masterclass

Braddon's Marble and Grain will host a meat masterclass on Saturday, July 25. It's billed as a "casual and educational lunch about meat", with four courses and matching wines. The event is presented by Haverick Meats. $120. Bookings 6246 9555.

Silver Fox's Special Olympics

Silver Fox Bar and Grill in Curtin is hosting an evening to support local girl Bronwyn Ibbotson, who's heading to the Special Olympics being held in Los Angeles. Bronwyn will compete in sailing for the Australian team. It's a 'Leg Up for a Local' auction evening and organisers hope to raise $8000 to cover the cost of her trip to the US.
