Morsels: Marble and Grain open in Braddon

Natasha Rudra

Another new restaurant and wine bar just opened in Braddon is Marble and Grain on Mort Street.

It's part of the Avenue Hotel on Northbourne Avenue and is designed by Paul Kelly Design, the designers behind Sydney high end restaurants such as Black by Ezard and Sokyo. Marble and Grain features a restrained menu – half a dozen entrees, mains and desserts, plenty of wines and spirits and a grill section that includes a 1kg rib eye "to share" and kangaroo loin.

It's all modern Australian with a couple of eye-catching offerings: fermented rye risotto, a dessert of salt-baked pineapple. There's a casual bar with a "cigar lounge" feel on the left and on the right an open kitchen with red leather seating. The chef is Matt Taylor. See marbleandgrain.com.au
