Not all of us have the means to have a lavish Christmas and while the holidays are a great time for family and food, it's also a good time to think about those less well off.

The YWCA runs a Food Hub which provides free groceries and food to families in the Lanyon and Tuggeranong area. There's a lot of extra pressure on the service during November and December so the YWCA has launched the Frugal Feast appeal, aiming to raise $10,000 to get them through the festive period.

They've put together a beautiful cookbook called The Frugal Feast, which features recipes from prominent Canberrans, such as Katy Gallagher and ordinary ones, such as myself.

The recipe I've contributed is a version of Ina Garten's lemon yogurt cake. The Frugal Feast is available from ywca-canberra.org.au. $23 including postage.
