My Mexican Cousin is finished

My Mexican Cousin in the Melbourne Recital Centre is no more. It has been replaced by Blondie Bar, with the same head chef, different menu and new owners. Cousin was opened in late 2011 by Salvatore Malatesta and partners, promising Creole cuisine, before hiring as a consultant a blogger who'd criticised its culinary mission. The team behind Script Bar & Bistro, also in the Recital complex, took over the space a week ago. Adam Keyte, of Script, says the space will become ''completely different to My Mexican Cousin''. Will the room look different and the menu be more streamlined? ''That's up for our customers to come and see and decide for themselves.'' Blondie Bar will open officially on April 4.
