One of Sydney's rising stars of the kitchen is set to join the party in the city.

Nomad chef Nathan Sasi is leaving the hot Surry Hills eatery for the CBD.

"I've resigned. I'll stay on [at Nomad] until the end of the year. If the guys find someone before that I might leave earlier," he says.

Having picked up a toque and great reviews at Nomad, he's keen for a change of scene.

"I've got a few options. I'm looking at sites in the city. Doing 600 covers a day at Nomad has taught me so much, but I think I'm suited to a smaller place."

Sasi, who trained in Sydney and honedhis craft everywhere from Moro and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London, to Husk in South Carolina, has a dream CBD location in mind.

"I'd love something off the beaten track, maybe down a back alley," he says.
