New Auction Rooms chef from Russia, with love of food

The Auction Rooms in North Melbourne has welcomed Russian-born, California-raised Boris Portnoy as its new head chef. He most recently worked at the lauded Meadowood restaurant in California under acclaimed chef Christoper Kostow and has introduced a new menu to the Errol Street cafe that's "marrying fine dining technique with the needs of cafe customers", says the cafe's food adviser, Katie Falkiner.
