New Brunswick bar Howler is set to be a screamer

Laneway bars are the essence of Melbourne cool, but Brunswick newcomer Howler goes one better. A warehouse bar and arts space, it is accessed via the car park opposite Brunswick Baths. The venue - official address 16 Michael Street - has been built to house two performance spaces: one for exhibitions and screenings, the other for gigs and performances. Created by the team behind The Workshop Bar in the city and Black Cat cafe in Fitzroy, Howler has bar snacks inspired by hawker street food, including spring rolls with kangaroo and wattle seed; and a great drinks list with Japanese beer Hitachino Nest on tap. Howler is open daily from 10am to 1am.
