CBD workers will have a host of new drinking and dining options at Grosvenor Place piazza in the new year including a three-level Italian restaurant, a sibling of the Sake brand, and a boutique dessert bar and patisserie.

The new eateries are part of a $20 million redevelopment plan of the Harry Seidler-designed, George Street skyscraper, scheduled for completion by mid-2016.

The Urban Purveyor Group (Ananas, Sake, Argyle, The Cut) is the force behind the big Grosvenor Place drawcard, Stella Ristorante & Terrazzo. The 800 square-metre indoor and outdoor venue will offer southern Italian fare including antipasto, crudo, oysters, pizza, fresh seafood cooked over fire, and housemade pasta across three levels of bars and dining spaces. Its rooftop terrazzo will almost certainly be the new hot spot for afterwork drinks in the north CBD with barrel-aged negronis and other classic Italian cocktails on the menu.

Grosvenor Place will also be home to first "fast fine-casual" version of the hospitality group's flagship Japanese restaurant, Sake. Sake Jr will have a mix-and-match Korean spin with noodle or rice-based meals office workers can customise with proteins, vegetables, sauces and garnishes.

Finally, for morning coffee and after-lunch pastries, the owners of Sourdough Bakery Bar at World Square will be opening Georgie Boy serving crepes, waffles, cakes and other sweet treats.

The three new eateries will join Grand Duk in the Grosvenor Place piazza, which opened in August and serves French-American food at lunch and Vietnamese fare at dinner.
