New opening: Assembly coffee and tea bar

Curated - a buzzword, but very apt for new and tiny coffee and tea bar Assembly, in Carlton. Pale timber-lined walls feature beans and leaves from selected suppliers (Small Batch, Market Lane, Sydney's Reuben Hills; Somage, Storm in a Teacup and Larsen & Thompson) repackaged in subtle tins wrapped in green paper, and wall niches showcase brewing equipment. There's a bench seat by the brew bar, where you can sample pour-over and AeroPress brews of the coffee or maybe a carefully steeped, floral China golden Wuyi oolong in handmade ceramic cups. Footpath tables are on the way. 60 Pelham Street, Carlton, no phone, Mon-Fri, 7am-6pm; Sat-Sun, 10am-5pm.
