Tim Wilson has sold The Essential Ingredient after nine years owning the Kingston kitchen store and providore. New owners Claire Smith, Janet Gavey and Kate Wellington took over last week.

Gavey has a connection already, as book-keeper under Wilson. The other two are new to the business, Wellington coming from project management and Smith from her husband’s surgical practice. Wellington says they’re looking to expand the wholesale side of the business and maintain the busy retail side seven days a week in Kingston.

As for Wilson, he’s a little vague on his plans: ‘‘I will be backing up my old Kombi, chillin’ with my wife Bev and our boys before heading out to look for some new ventures,’’ he says, signing off ‘‘essential no more’’.
