The Darlinghurst venue that puts the small in small bar and restaurant has a habit of landing good chefs. The Owl House, previously named Sydney's best bar with food by The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide when under the kitchen watch of chef John Rankin, has recruited UK chef Luke Sankey.
Sankey, who trained with Marco Pierre White at Mirabelle and Anton Edelmann at The Savoy, also has Sydney's Quay restaurant on his CV. His opening menu includes an old school scallop dish with black pudding, short rib and black bean sliders, spatchcock with onion risotto and chestnuts, and a dessert of honey and dijon mustard ice-cream with lemon myrtle, lime puffed rice and rhubarb.
