Brace yourselves because Radelaide just got radder. In an Australian first, a Nutella-themed festival will hit Adelaide on April 9. Held in Bonython Park, the Nutella-Palooza festival will feature cooking demonstrations, chocolate and bakery stalls, food trucks and art installations. 2015 was the year that Nutella went nuts and this festival is an apt beginning to another year of chocolatey-filled goodness.

There will be Nutella cocktails exclusive to the event, and if you ever needed to know whether the Nutella craze has gone too far, Nutella beer is on offer, too. Not a sweet tooth? Well, they've got you covered. There will be food trucks dishing up savoury meals, as well as a number of South Australian and interstate chefs participating in the demonstrations. Live entertainment and activities will keep the kids occupied.

But who are the geniuses behind this choc-hazelnut wonderland? "It began as an innocent evening with a group of friends, sitting around after a lazy Saturday afternoon," says Tash Weggery, event manager of Nutella-Palooza. "David (now the event director) mentioned to me he thought there should be some sort of dedicated Nutella event and before he'd even finished, I said 'OK, I'm in, let's do this'. David then posted up a question on his social media accounts asking if people would attend a Nutella event. The response was clear - YES, they would - and it just took off from there."

And their friends weren't the only ones who were keen on the idea. "We have been inundated with requests for interviews and social media posts have gone viral," Weggery says. "The support we have received, not only in Australia, but also internationally has been mind-blowing," she says. "We have even had people messaging us from interstate and overseas wanting recommendations on where to stay as they are flying to Adelaide to attend."

Never has there been a better excuse to visit 'the festival state' than during a festival that truly understands your complex Nutella-binge needs.

"It's a day where - instead of sitting at home feeling guilty about eating Nutella straight from the jar - you can come out and share the day with all the other fans and help spread the happy," she says.
