With estimates Sydney has added 3000 extra restaurant seats in recent months, the city is undeniably in a mini-boom.

Inner-city suburbs Surry Hills, Alexandria and Rosebery have received their usual quota, but the summer wave of openings is about to go coastal, with Cronulla, Manly and Palm Beach in the line of fire for expansive food and beverage operators.

Next week the co-owner of Bondi’s The Bucket List, Andy Ruwald, will open his new venue at the former site of Beach Road restaurant at Palm Beach.

Ruwald has finally settled on a name, Cranky Fins Holidae Inn, and says the venue is aimed exclusively at Palm Beach’s hip scion.

‘‘We’re talking to the council about putting in a child-friendly area, where we’ll show kids’ films on a hanging sheet.’’
