The hot restaurant trend this spring isn't found on menus, it can be found out in the street and in car parks.

While more valet parking options are popping up and restaurants like Criniti's at Woolloomooloo now offer free taxis for lunchtime customers (weekdays only), Cranky Fins at Palm Beach is debuting its own special customer car next month.

With a posse of celebrities - from Cate Blanchett to Baz Luhrmann - spotted at the northern beaches venue last "season", owner Andy Ruwald wants diners to relax.

"We are going to pick up and drop off between here and north Avalon," he says.

Cranky Fins, which closed during the quieter winter months, reopens this week with another change. Due to popular request, the venue has shifted from bar ordering to table service.
