At the beginning of 2013, Peter Gunn, sous chef at Attica, started a monthly dinner called Ides, where he'd bust out a spontaneous six to eight courses.
Things were going swimmingly until Gunn won the Pacific semi-final of the world S.Pellegrino Young Chef award last month (the final is in Milan in June), and now it's more of a sprint, with Ides dinners at Persillade in East Melbourne booked out for the rest of the year.
The seasonal menu, created by Gunn and his team, is $110 (food only), with wine matches by Persillade's Aidan Raftery.
