After a relatively quiet couple of years by its own lofty standards, the restaurant opening action in Surry Hills looks to be headed back to a bull market.

With MoVida opening in the city and its Surry Hills site recently placed on the market, Holt Street regulars were excited to see restaurateur Peter Sullivan tour the restaurant and return with what appeared to be a designer or architect. Sullivan built the Aria and Chiswick restaurant empire with co-owner chef Matt Moran before departing the hospitality group last year.

He'd be in good company if he takes the site, with Mike McEnearney short-odds to rebirth Kitchen by Mike in Surry Hills, and Melbourne-based MasterChef judge George Calombaris opening a restaurant in postcode 2010 after buying two buildings on Albion Street.
