Chef Philippe Mouchel's restaurant return starts next Monday, June 15 at 7am when he opens the doors of his new bistro, Deja Vue. While the seven-month lease on what was Cafe Vue may be short term, Mouchel has long-term plans. "After seven months, we may open somewhere else or stay here, we don't know yet," he says.

Deja Vue's head chef is Sean Marshall, who was most recently at Fitzroy's Hell of the North but worked with Mouchel at PM24 and The Brasserie by Philippe Mouchel at Crown.

The menu is built around the rotisserie, including roast chicken (you'd be right in sensing a touch of deja vu from PM24 days). Breakfast and lunch menus – think French toast, eggs benedict with ham hock, sandwiches and salads – will keep the local office crowds well fed.

Deja Vue, 401 St Kilda Road, Melbourne; open Mon-Fri for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Sat for dinner.
