Rising food hub Rosebery is poised to add a produce market and a new branch of Gelato Messina to its growing list of edible credentials.

Messina owner Nick Palumbo confirmed Messina's Rosebery debut, with the launch a few months away.

The location is near the hub populated by Kitchen by Mike, Black Star and Archie Rose, which will be the first new commercial distillery in the City of Sydney in more than 160 years when it opens in the next week.

Archie Rose co-owner Will Edwards and his team are already hard at work behind the scenes:

"We've got single malt ageing, yesterday we bottled a palate of gin," Edwards says.

In the warehouse space next door to Archie Rose a market will open later this year.

Word is a coffee roaster, bakery and organic fruit and vegetable operator have all signed. Stay tuned.
