Punt on pizza

Food at stadium venues is more often than not cooked in a deep-fat fryer, so it's interesting to hear that pizza chef Johnny di Francesco, of Brunswick's 400 Gradi, is opening a second venue in Etihad Stadium in Docklands, complete with a wood-fired oven.

To be called 90 Secondi (the time it takes to cook one of his pizzas), the venue will be open weekdays for breakfast, lunch and dinner with lunch and dinner on weekends. ''We will have a special service on game and event nights for stand-up eating and drinking downstairs to ensure people can be in and out quickly,'' di Francesco says.

The eatery has a whopping 150 seats and is located underneath the new NAB building outside Gate 3 at Etihad Stadium. The plan is to open in mid-August.
