Queensland restaurants to join Good Food Month

Queensland restaurants are being invited to join their Sydney counterparts and celebrate brisbanetimes.com.au Good Food Month in October. This year is the first time the celebration will include Queensland, Victoria and the ACT.

“We are really keen to showcase the Good Food Guide-rated restaurants in Queensland,” said organiser and editor of The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, Joanna Savill.

“So much work goes into the reviewing process to decide listings and rankings, so we wanted to give the restaurants a chance to show off what they do by being part of Good Food Month.

"We're definitely looking at extending Good Food Month in Brisbane and regional Queensland next year with other kinds of events such as classes, pub events, even perhaps a night noodle market. But this year we're inviting restaurants to create either a cool 'Let's Do Lunch' menu or for those with a hat or more in this year's guide, to do a fun 'Hats Off' menu (something they don't normally do).”

Sydney restaurants participating in the latter include Rockpool, which is presenting a dinner celebrating 1989; Quay, which is going "hot and spicy"; and Three Blue Ducks, which is doing a "Flavour of the Ducks" series - Sri Lankan, surf and turf, and garden.

In Brisbane, Brents in Toowong was one of the first to sign up and will be doing a retro '70s-themed dinner, while Aria, Stokehouse, Urbane and Sake have also signed on, but are so far keeping mum on their concepts.

The brisbanetimes.com.au Good Food Month will be promoted via brisbanetimes.com.au, the printed program in The Sydney Morning Herald and online at goodfoodmonth.com from August 27. To sign up for either Let's do Lunch or Hat's Off dinners or for more information, go to www.goodfoodmonth.com.
