The new owners of The Dog (Duke of Gloucester) in Randwick are about to enter the record books. "There are plans for 58 beers on tap by early next year which I believe will be the most taps at a venue in the southern hemisphere," says John Azar of The Good Beer Company.

The addition of The Dog this week adds to Good Beer's growing portfolio which already includes the Dove & Olive and Keg & Brew in Surry Hills. "We'll continue with the American theme, but it'll be given a French twist at The Dog," says Azar. "Steaks will have French sauces, like cafe de Paris butter, and the interior will have some Louis XVI and New Orleans touches."

The craft brew specialist says every tap will have a unique beer. "Logistically we needed somewhere with a lot of cellar space to do this, which The Dog has. The taps will be spread between the main bar, upstairs and the beer garden. Everything should be in place by early next year."

The Good Beer Company paid Newhaven Hotels a reported $16 million for the pub, which was once once run by Rugby League Immortal Clive Churchill.
