Grab a bite to eat with River Cottage Australia chef Paul West, who is heading to Canberra on Wednesday, April 8, for a chat at the Australian National University.

West has just published his first cookbook - titled (what else?) The River Cottage Australia Cookbook - and will be signing books and speaking about his experiences on the River Cottage farm on the south coast.

The event includes a glass of wine and a selection of canapes, including mini beef burgers which are adapted from the cookbook.

West was Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's protege and the star of the River Cottage Australia TV series where he grows and cooks his own produce on an old dairy farm in the extremely picturesque central Tilba region on the NSW coast. The new series airs on Foxtel in May.

Eat Drink and Be Literary with Paul West is on Wednesday, April 8, at 5.45pm. $37.50. University House, Australian National University. Tickets from eventbrite.com.au
