The old Queensland Rugby Club site, at the Eagle Street Pier in Brisbane's central business district, has finally been leased.

After much speculation about possible tenants, the space, which has been empty since last July, has been leased by "Eddie" Erso Isik, owner of Ahmet's Bulimba, and Ole and The Point Bistro at South Bank.

Mr Isik plans to open a second Ole in the space.

“When I was offered the position, I couldn't believe it," he said. "It's such a great location, with magical views overlooking the river, the Story Bridge and surrounding CBD.”

The restaurant would seat about 300 people, he said.

“This will provide us with plenty of space for events such as functions and our exciting Spanish fiestas. The venue will also include a private dining space overlooking the river, perfect for celebrating special occasions and corporate dining.”

Mr Isik said he expected the new Ole to open late this year.

“The CBD has been waiting for a Spanish restaurant for such a long time, we can't wait to get started,” he said. Mr Isik also confirmed his new Sangria Bar, at South Bank, will open in June.
