One door closes, another opens ... Vios has shut but a Japanese restaurant is opening in its place.

Vio's restaurant in Paddington is no more. The upmarket Italian opened in the Iceworks complex in 2011 and was sold in mid- 2012 to Brazilian Giovany Loureiro, who took both the cooking and the prices upmarket.

Now, in a lightening-quick sale, (so fast, in fact, the building still boasts a sign advertising "Vio's new menu") it's in the hands of Korean-born Hyanchang Lee and is undergoing a transformation into a Korean-Japanese Bistro and Sake Bar called Kokoro.

The Lee family also own another Kokoro in South Brisbane. Kokoro is expected to open mid-January.
