In now: After a cold snap in May in the Northern Territory, followed by a poor wet season, the mango season is off to an early start with a bumper crop.

In the vegie patch: Plant potatoes to harvest in summer. Encourage a bigger haul by hilling soil or compost around the stems, leaving just a handspan of foliage at the top.
