South Bank seeks a brewery

South Bank (which will be buzzing this weekend with the Regional Flavours Festival) may soon be home to a craft brewery.

South Bank Corporation, which is responsible for the tenancies there, wants to add to the mix and put in a microbrewery.

It says it is seeking expressions of interest from small boutique craft brewers to use the space, directly across from the popular Piaf, that once housed the Bank of Queensland.

Brisbane's craft beer guru Matt Kirkegaard who is presenting beer tastings at the Hunting Club at the South Bank Surf Club at the Regional Flavours Festival, reckons it's a top idea (naturally).

“Craft beer is still a bit marginalised so for an inner-city brewery to take it out further will be fantastic,” he says.

Interested parties need to apply by July 31.
