It's just two weeks since Southgate's Italian stalwart Tutto Bene announced it had undergone major renovations and opened a second-storey terrace. Today comes news that its second Southgate venue, Artusi, has been shuttered.

An anonymous source told Good Food that employees at Artusi showed up to work on Sunday to find the restaurant gutted – furniture, ovens, all gone. The restaurant occupies the space housed Walter's Wine Bar for 21 years and closed in June 2013. Artusi opened in July 2014.

Good Food has asked Tutto Bene owner Tamara Volkoff to comment. She confirmed only that Artusi had closed and said would be issuing a statement later.

Southgate centre management declined to comment on the unexpected closure.
