Space for a long lunch, indeed

The food court goes glam with the opening of 500-seater the Lunch Room, a vast venue by Sydney-based development company Walker Corporation.

It's the first of three stages to open in the Docklands retail space that covers 10,000 square metres.

Here you'll find high-end takeaway, such as Papadam for Indian cuisine, Nashi sandwiches, Rhumbas, Edamama salad bar and Sobo Japanese.

''We wanted to create a place where restaurants can own spaces and authenticity is very important,'' says Emily Pederson, the designer of the space.

The Lunch Room is at 727 Collins Street, Docklands, and opens from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
