Steamed opens in Paddington

Natascha Mirosch

Steamed is expanding and have this week opened a second branch of their Turbot Street dumpling shop in Given Terrace in Paddington. Owner David Schindler and Kevin Xu started off peddling their jiaozi in Brisbane's markets before finding a permanent home beneath the Turbot Street flyover. Now they've set up shop in Paddington's main strip, taking over the space left behind by Japanese takeaway Nakoya.

Lovers of the Love-a-Bull (beef, red onion, ginger, spices), Harbin Pork (pork, chives and ginger) and Zen vegetarian dumplings will be pleased to know they are all on the Paddo menu, with the introduction of a few more items to come as well as a tea list, Schindler says.

"It's a different space from Turbot Street, with more of a cafe feel. We're not licensed but it's something we might look at for the future if it goes well."

Steamed is starting off with a 10am-8pm opening during the week with later opening on Friday and Saturdays.
