Caulfield Racecourse's the Winning Post dining venue has had a name change, while Ian Curley, executive chef of European in the city, has been employed as chef-in-residence. The Winning Post - in reference to where the dining room overlooks - is now known as Black Caviar, after the champion mare (pictured).

Curley will guide the kitchen staff through the 25 Saturdays of the year that the venue will be open. "I want it to be more of a restaurant than a grandstand sporting experience," he says. The 200-seat dining room is a very different beast to his Spring Street address and he's enjoying the challenge. "I'm serving my food. The staff there are embracing it and it doesn't interfere with my city work." Sounds like he's hit the home straight.
