Street food feasting in Lakemba

Every night during Ramadan, Lakemba's Haldon Street comes alive with some of the best street food you'll find in Sydney. From sunset to the wee-hours there's over twenty stalls with camel burgers, kebabs, and enough Lebanese sweets to make Willy Wonka look like an amateur.

Notably, the festival has no governing body. It has simply evolved over the last decade to become the feast of the senses it is today.

Canterbury City Council has stepped in this year to license the stalls so all vendors comply with health and safety standards. “We encourage everyone to come down and experience the amazing food Lakemba has to offer,” says Canterbury City Council's corporate communications manager Anne Lawson.
