Lawn bowling clubs have plenty of spats out on the lanes, but it is in the kitchen at the Greens that tensions have hit breaking point. Since it opened last year with former Grounds executive chef Lilly Fasan behind the burners, the Greens has been the pin-up for rejuvenated Sydney bowling clubs, serving up to 1500 meals a day at weekends. From this week Fasan won't be in the kitchen. "Myself, my husband and five of my team are leaving," she says. "The vision I was sold is not the reality. A club will always be a club and they can only do what clubs are good at." A spokesperson for the Greens (the Norths Bowlo site next to North Sydney Oval) refused to comment, saying only that Fasan had resigned, they wished her well and "new things are planned for summer". Word on the greens is that former Cruise chef Nathan Tillott will step into Fasan's kitchen clogs.
