Sydney's restaurant boom can't keep up its relentless opening pace without a few casualties along the way.

Baroque Bistro and Bondi Social are among the better-known names to join the list of the city's past-tense restaurants.

The glammed-up Baroque rocked The Rocks with hanging copper pots and a lush interior.

Baroque was the brainchild of the Charkos family, who operate the long-running La Renaissance Cafe and Patisserie up the road.

Olivier Charkos wasn't available for comment, but the crew at La Renaissance confirmed the closure.

Bondi Social, a 10-year veteran at Bondi Beach has also closed, despite the Bondi Beach boom.

Property prices played a part, the restaurant's operators pointing the finger at the site's redevelopment as serviced apartments.
