The hugely popular Chur is set to open a branch in Brisbane in late August. Chef Warren Turnbull, formerly of Sydney's Assiette and District Dining, is behind the highly successful Chur Burger in Sydney. Along with a rooftop bar called Up, Chur Brisbane will open at the TRYP Hotel, a 65-room boutique venue in Fortitude Valley.

The hotel, bar and burger bar will add to the growing food offerings in the once seedy and neglected corner, joining Alfred & Constance, Alfred's, Limes Hotel, Kwan Brothers and Dutch Courage Officers' Mess.

Turnbull said he believed the Chur brand was an ideal fit for Brisbane. "I've been visiting Brisbane for years and fallen in love with it, the weather and the vibe are so enticing and work so well with the Chur brand which is totally laidback, cool and relaxing."

In addition to the famous burgers, the menu will include snacks such as beef cheek chimichanga with chipotle mayonnaise, miso brisket tacos, and chicken wings with blue cheese dressing. The drinks list will feature local wine and cocktails served to a "loud, cool" soundtrack, Turnbull says.

Rooftop bar Up is licensed for 240 people and will have a more chilled out vibe. A small plate menu will include dishes like lamb cutlets with mint chimichurri; Sichuan quail with ginger vinegar and pickled carrot; and soy marinated tuna with wasabi panna cotta; complemented by cocktails, wine, beer and champagne.

Chur, in Constance Street, is scheduled to open in late August.
