Sam McGeechan and David Black have sold The Artisan in Narrabundah and the restaurant will be given an Asian revamp.

Black, as we noted in Food and Wine earlier this year, is now culinary director with CoCu, the Canberra hospitality group responsible for SubUrban, Bellucci's and several new projects coming up around the capital. McGeechan will head overseas.

According to real estate agency Maxima, the restaurant will re-open in September with "cues from traditional Southeast Asian street cuisine" and a casual feel. The new owners are apparently publicity shy but already own a restaurant in the inner south. They say their vision "isn't about trends or what's hot right now – this is food that has been popular for centuries, re-worked and re-imagined, using local and seasonal produce for a modern Australian audience."
