If The Grounds of Alexandria maintains its current rate of expansion then we might have to rechristen it The Acreage.

Building work has begun on a plan that will see it expand into a neighbouring building, creating space for a walk-in retail bakery area. A massive list of add-ons are designed around further connecting with the community, says The Grounds co-director Ramzey Choker.

New cooking school area and dedicated juice bar? Check. New outdoor silo with wood-fired pizza oven? Check. A new burger bar, cider room, meat shop and copper shingle-fronted outdoor bar fronts? Check, check, check.

When the work is finished later this year there'll even be a children's cinema, health bar, free child-minding areas in the evening and a designated pram parking lot. Did we mention the wood-chopping area?

Sounds better than the Easter Show.
