The Moor's Head Elsternwick is no more. Owners Joseph and Natalie Abboud, who opened the second "inauthentic pizza" joint in March last year, have sold to Jason M. Jones, of South Yarra's Entrecote and Moor Please in Hepburn Springs.

Business on the Glen Huntly Road strip can be tough, with Friday and Saturday trade affected by the Jewish sabbath. "When they approached us with an offer, we took it," says Abboud.

Jones is going into business with Ramez Abdulnour from Rosso Coffee. The pair will transform the site into a cafe called Bancroft Brewers, named after Peter Bancroft, who installed Melbourne's first espresso machine at the University Cafe on Lygon Street, Carlton, in 1954. Bancroft Brewers will open daily for breakfast and lunch from June 3.
