Just as Rene Redzepi closes his Noma pop-up at Barangaroo to focus on a new "urban farm" project back home in Copenhagen, Sydney is poised to welcome its own restaurant and farm concept.

Last year, Good Food reported Pocket City Farms was ploughing the former greens of the Camperdown Bowling Club. Now we can reveal the consultants behind The Greens in North Sydney will own and operate the food and beverage business on the site. It will be named Acre.

John Tully confirmed he and business partner Luke Heard, the duo who developed the concept for booming northside bowlo reboot, The Greens, are behind Acre. It will open late June and the 350-seater will lean heavily on produce from the site.

Another bonus is diners and would-be gardeners won't have to sign in at the door, Acre isn't a registered club. "There'll be a strong community element, with education programs and workshops," Tully says.

Dining and yoga classes in the middle of an urban farm? Throw in Sydney's climate and it's enough to make even Rene Redzepi a little pea green with envy.

"You just don't find that kind of space so close to the city," Tully adds.
