After a longer courtship than you'd find in a Jane Austen novel, Three Blue Ducks is poised to finally nab the former home of Kitchen by Mike in Rosebery. The Bronte and Byron Bay outfit held discussions last year with design and furniture outfit Koskela about taking the space after the departure of founding chef and Koskela's former partner, Mike McEnearney. Koskela had a short-lived spell operating it themselves. The rebranded Koskela Kitchen, which departed from the original successful concept and introduced table service, failed to reopen after the Christmas break.

Several operators have held discussions with Koskela about taking the site, but Koskela and the Ducks are believed to be within days of a deal being finalised. Koskela's owners didn't respond to Good Food's inquires, but staff have told potential diners an announcement on a new operator is imminent. A spokesman for Three Blue Ducks declined to comment.
